Vastu Puja

The Vastu Puja is performed to honour and harmonise with the Vastu Purusha — the presiding cosmic spirit of a plot of land or building — and the energies of the ten directions and five elements that govern a dwelling's wellbeing. Rooted in Vastu Shastra, the ancient science of sacred architecture, the puja seeks to align a home or workplace with natural and cosmic order so that it becomes a source of health, prosperity, and peace for its occupants.

Families and businesses perform the Vastu Puja before beginning construction (bhoomi puja), when moving into a new premises, when undertaking major renovations, or to remedy vastu doshas — imbalances believed to cause obstacles, ill health, or discord. The ritual involves the worship of the Vastu Purusha along with Ganesha and the guardians of the directions (Dikpalas), offerings into the sacred space, and the chanting of Vastu mantras invoking harmony and protection.
