Lakshmi Homam

The Lakshmi Homam is a sacred fire ceremony dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi, invoking her abundant grace through the medium of Agni, the sacred fire. It is performed to attract prosperity, financial stability, and the removal of debt and scarcity — and, in its fuller sense, the eight-fold wealth of health, courage, knowledge, progeny, and spiritual grace that the Goddess embodies.

In this homam, the consecrated fire is kindled in the havan kund and offerings of ghee, grains, lotus seeds, and herbs are made into the flames while the priests chant the Sri Suktam, the Lakshmi moola mantra, and her 108 names. The rising fire is understood as the living presence of the divine, carrying each offering directly to the Goddess; the repeated ahutis, synchronised with mantra, build a powerful current of auspicious vibration believed to sanctify the home and draw Lakshmi's lasting presence.

Families undertake the Lakshmi Homam at house-warmings, at the start or expansion of a business, on Deepavali and Fridays, and whenever they seek relief from financial hardship or wish to consecrate prosperity honestly earned.
